The Department of Network and Systems Engineering consists of about 20 teachers, researchers and doctoral students who contribute to a high professional standard of intensive work and quality results, as well as a pleasant and open environment. The staff has an international background and the working language is English. The department is internationally well-established, has many research collaborations with excellent partners all over the world and is involved in several European and national projects.

 

project Description

 

We are now looking for 1-2 PhD students with background and interest in mathematics, optimization, machine learning, networking, system theory. Our research projects will support these doctoral students in the areas of optimization and machine learning with application to the Internet, wireless networks or cyber-physical systems of things.

 

The doctoral student program in Electrical and Systems Engineering offers world-class education, with postgraduate courses that ensure the deep development of relevant knowledge and skills.

qualifications

 

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who hold a Master of Science in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or the like. The chosen candidate needs an excellent academic qualification, well-developed analytical skills, as well as skills in problem solving. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who can work independently. Good knowledge of English in spelling and writing is necessary to publish and present research results in international conferences and journals. They should be ready to contribute to an international research group and a scientific research agenda of great importance to European industry and society. KTH has high ambitions in terms of providing a wide range of skills, and therefore welcomes applicants that increase diversity within the university.

The employment is time-limited according to the regulations for doctoral employment in the Higher Education Ordinance (~ 5 years at 80% research and 20% institutional service which also involves teaching).
